The South Texas VA Healthcare System, San Antonio, TX, is recruiting to fill a Board Certified/Board Eligible Chief of Gastroenterology Physician position for primarily outpatient practice.  The South Texas VA Healthcare System will include some inpatient responsibilities as well as outpatient care and is a 268-bed state of the art facility offering full range of Veteran care and service. The ideal Chief candidate will be suitable for academic appointment at UTHSC at the level of associate or full professor, as evidenced by a strong track record of academic and clinical excellence. Ideal candidates will also have demonstrated leadership skills and success in mentorship. The clinical activities of the Section of Gastroenterology will be responsible for the admissions, work-up, diagnosis and provision of treatment and care expected of a General Gastroenterology trained physician for practice that includes Upper GI Endoscopy (EGD), Colonoscopy and other illnesses, injuries and disorders related to gastroenterology and esophageal function tests. The South Texas VA Healthcare System is affiliated with University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, so selected candidates will be considered for academic appointment based on qualifications and interests, and expected to participate in the teaching of fellows, resident and medical students.


   •          Must be a Citizen of the U.S.

   •          Must be BC/BE in Gastroenterology (New Graduates Considered)

   •          Must have current, active and unrestricted U.S. medical license

 Benefits and Features: 

     •        Expected Salary range for well qualified Gastroenterologist will range from $320,000.00 to $350,000.00, with consideration given to candidate's qualifications, credentials and experience; and may include up to $15,000 in Annual Performance Bonus

     •        A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive up to 15% of salary and/or an Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) of up to $200,000 may be considered for well-qualified selected candidate depending on facility available funding and discretion
